As we inch closer and closer to football season, your boy is doing his best to enter mid-season writing form before we kick off. What the hell have I need doing all summer with no football? Well, aside from avoiding emotional conversations with my wife, lame baseball highlights and crying myself to sleep every night, I’ve been betting HARD on some golf… and winning too.
I have always been very hit or miss when it comes to betting golf but this year I appear to have turned a corner, finding a good balance between picking outright winners, Top 10s, tournament matchups and DFS. With the BMW coming up this week and me needing to get the Twitter fingers back in business, I have decided to release my plays and best bets for your reading pleasure.
My golf betting routine is not that different from the typical WiseGuys routine – consume 10-15 articles/podcasts from trusted sources, aggregate the info and spit out the data that tells me who to play. So, for today, I am going to dish out who my sources like the most. If you are a child and don’t like to read, just scroll to the bottom for the picks.
Best Bets – All Categories
Justin Thomas – 14/1 and Top 15 (-120)
Justin Thomas – 14/1 and Top 15 (-120)
So JT is by far the shortest odds on this list to win and, frankly, I typically shy away from guys this close to the top. So why am I putting a unit on JT? Well, it’s because 3/7 of my sources are putting some green on him and he’s finished in the Top 10 in his last 3 events (if you get a Top 10 prop that is close to even odds, take that too (I did both)). He can keep it straight, he’s long enough for this course (Which measures 7600+!!!) and, most importantly, he is great at proximity from 175+. Put a lil coin on JT – both outright and Top 15.
Jason Kokrak over Sneds (-125)
Jason Kokrak over Sneds (-125)
So, Kokrak was mentioned in all 7 of my sources as being someone to watch this weekend. A few picked him to win, some top 10s, but 4/7 picked him to beat Sneds for the tournament. And why not!? The guy can ball strike with the best of em and Sneds hasn’t done anything special in a while. Kokrak also has nothing to lose and is looking to play in to the FedEx Cup. Several guys picked him Top 10 this week as well (which isn’t offered on my book or else I would have too) and a few took him to win.
Bryson DoucheChambeau over Tiger “Fucking” Woods (-180)
Bryson DoucheChambeau over Tiger “Fucking” Woods (-180)
Ugh, this one hurts. Bad. I’m the biggest Tiger guy you’ll ever meet and I hate Bryson, so why am I doing this? Well, first of all, I’m coming around on Bryson. The guy may be a massive douche (hence the nickname), but recently he has become significantly more relatable and likable off the course. His swing still makes me cringe and I’d love for him to pick up his pace, but at the end of the day, he’s made great strides with me personally this year. Speaking of slow play, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know this guy is taking the brunt of the heat from Brooks (also a douche) and the twitter mob coming after slow players. So much so, in fact, that they had a little confrontation on the practice green last week about it and the guy can’t take 2 questions from the media without one being about slow play. Uhhhh, you ever been super fucking juiced and walked on the golf course? Fuckin swagger out the frame, adrenaline poppin, confident, ready to dick-slap the white ball to fucking Mars? Yeah – that’s Bryson right now. The other unfortunate reality is the Tiger is most likely legitimately hobbled. He withdrew last week and the reason this line is so high (up to -220 some places now) is because it is very likely Tiger comes out slow, playing like shit, and withdraws before the weekend to avoid hurting himself for no reason. -220 is really high so watch that line, but I think this bet is plenty safe.
***Side note – I did not bet Bryson over Tiger because I don’t bet against my own teams/players so if you don’t see it in my pending list, that’s why.***
Alright so best of luck to you constituents this weekend and I hope all of your plays cash! See below for my full betting card – all of the outright winners are half units, everything else is a full.
